Ingredients
- 1 cup textured soy protein (TVP)
- 1 cup hot vegetable broth or water
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (plus extra for cooking)
Instructions
- Place the textured soy protein in a bowl and pour the hot vegetable broth over it. Let it soak for 10 minutes.
- Drain any excess liquid and gently squeeze out excess moisture.
- Transfer the hydrated soy protein to a mixing bowl.
- Add the onion, garlic, parsley, soy sauce, smoked paprika, black pepper, salt, breadcrumbs, flour, and oil.
- Mix thoroughly until a firm, moldable mixture forms.
- Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into burger patties.
- Heat a lightly oiled skillet over medium heat.
- Cook the patties for 6–8 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crisp.
- Serve on burger buns with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and your favorite sauces.
