Ingredients

For the Burgers

  • 500 g (1.1 lb) ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese (or mozzarella cheese)
  • 4 hamburger buns

Toppings

  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 1 large tomato, sliced
  • 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • Optional: sliced onions, pickles, ketchup, mustard

Instructions

  1. Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and shape them into burger patties.
  2. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.
  3. Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Cook the patties for about 4–5 minutes per side, or until they reach your preferred doneness.
  5. Place a slice of cheese on each patty during the final minute of cooking and allow it to melt.
  6. Lightly toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a skillet.
  7. Spread mayonnaise on the bottom half of each bun.
  8. Add lettuce, tomato slices, and the cheeseburger patty.
  9. Add any optional toppings if desired.
  10. Close with the top bun and serve immediately.

Serving Suggestion

Serve with French fries, onion rings, or a fresh salad and a cold beverage.
