Ingredients
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 4 burger buns
- 4 slices cheddar or mozzarella cheese
- 4 lettuce leaves
- 1 large tomato, sliced
- 4 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp butter (for toasting buns)
Instructions
- Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and shape them into burger patties.
- Season both sides of the patties with salt and black pepper.
- Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat.
- Cook the patties for 4–5 minutes per side, or until desired doneness.
- Place a slice of cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking and allow it to melt.
- Butter the inside of the burger buns and toast them lightly in a skillet until golden.
- Spread mayonnaise on the bottom half of each bun.
- Add a lettuce leaf and tomato slices.
- Place the cheeseburger patty on top.
- Cover with the top bun and serve immediately.
