Cheese Salad

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 slices cheddar or mozzarella cheese
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 1 large tomato, sliced
  • 4 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp butter (for toasting buns)

Instructions

  1. Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and shape them into burger patties.
  2. Season both sides of the patties with salt and black pepper.
  3. Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Cook the patties for 4–5 minutes per side, or until desired doneness.
  5. Place a slice of cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking and allow it to melt.
  6. Butter the inside of the burger buns and toast them lightly in a skillet until golden.
  7. Spread mayonnaise on the bottom half of each bun.
  8. Add a lettuce leaf and tomato slices.
  9. Place the cheeseburger patty on top.
  10. Cover with the top bun and serve immediately.
