Ingredients

  • 2 burger buns
  • 2 beef burger patties (about 150 g / 5 oz each)
  • 4 slices bacon
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 slices cheddar cheese (optional)
  • 2 lettuce leaves
  • 2 tomato slices
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp butter (for toasting buns)

Instructions

  1. Preheat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat.
  2. Cook the bacon until crispy. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate.
  3. Season the burger patties with salt and black pepper.
  4. Cook the patties for 4–5 minutes per side, or until your desired doneness. Add cheese during the last minute of cooking if using.
  5. In a separate pan, fry the eggs until the whites are set and the yolks remain slightly runny.
  6. Butter and toast the burger buns until golden brown.
  7. Mix the mayonnaise and ketchup to create a simple burger sauce.
  8. Spread the sauce on the bottom bun.
  9. Layer with lettuce, tomato, burger patty, bacon, and fried egg.
  10. Top with the upper bun and serve immediately.
