Lentil Burger


 

This Lentil Burger is a delicious plant-based alternative that combines a crispy exterior with a soft, flavorful center. Ingredients

  • 1 cup cooked lentils
  • 1/2 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats or oat flour
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley or cilantro, chopped
  • Burger buns
  • Lettuce, tomato, and onion slices for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mash the cooked lentils using a fork or potato masher until mostly smooth.
  2. Add the chopped onion, garlic, oats, olive oil, paprika, cumin, parsley, salt, and pepper.
  3. Mix well until the mixture becomes firm enough to shape into patties.
  4. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and form burger patties with your hands.
  5. Heat a non-stick skillet with a drizzle of olive oil over medium heat.
  6. Cook the lentil burgers for about 4–5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Toast the burger buns lightly if desired.
  8. Assemble the burgers with lettuce, tomato, onion, and your favorite sauces.
  9. Serve hot and enjoy.
