Cook Time: 15 minutes
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Servings: 4 burgers
Ingredients
- 800 g ground beef (preferably a blend with some fat)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 4 burger buns
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- Lettuce leaves
- Tomato slices
- Onion slices
- Butter or olive oil for the buns
Optional Sauce
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 teaspoon mustard
Instructions
- Preheat the charcoal grill until the coals are very hot and covered with white ash.
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef with salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika. Mix gently without overworking the meat.
- Divide the meat into 4 equal portions and shape them into burger patties about 2 cm thick. Press a small indentation in the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.
- Place the burgers on the grill over direct heat. Cook for about 4 to 5 minutes per side, depending on your preferred doneness.
- During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each burger and allow it to melt.
- Lightly butter the burger buns and toast them on the grill until golden.
- For the optional sauce, mix mayonnaise, garlic, and mustard in a small bowl.
- Assemble the burgers with sauce, lettuce, tomato, onions, and the grilled patties.
- Serve immediately with fries or grilled vegetables.
