Fish Burger

 

This Fish Burger is a delicious and lighter alternative to a traditional beef burger. Made with seasoned white fish fillets, crispy golden breading, fresh lettuce, juicy tomatoes, and a creamy tartar sauce, it delivers a perfect balance of texture and flavor in every bite.

Ingredients

For the Fish

  • 4 white fish fillets (cod, haddock, pollock, or tilapia)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1½ cups breadcrumbs or panko
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying

For Assembly

  • 4 burger buns, toasted
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 1 tomato, sliced
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese (optional)
  • ½ cup tartar sauce or mayonnaise

Instructions

  1. Pat the fish fillets dry and season both sides with salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
  2. Prepare three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs.
  3. Coat each fillet in flour, dip into the eggs, and then cover thoroughly with breadcrumbs.
  4. Heat about 1 inch (2.5 cm) of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Fry the fish for 3–4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  7. Spread tartar sauce on the toasted buns.
  8. Add lettuce, tomato slices, and the crispy fish fillet. Add cheese if desired.
  9. Top with the remaining bun half and serve immediately.
